Data protection and privacy engineering (PE) is a top Privacy-Aware Smart Cities IoT requirement given the amount of personally identifiable information (PII) that is captured or created in these innovative management systems. PE helps avoid the potential harm of data breaches that already make customers wary and provides transparency when questioned on the who, what, and where of the PII is being processed. PE also provides organizational answers for regulations and system level information to help overcome overall public distrust.
To ensure IOT offerings and solutions transparently provide controls to meet the privacy and data protection requirements, privacy engineering is a repeatable policy-driven, privacy by design and default, transparent data engineering framework. It starts at design and is maintained throughout the data and system’s lifecycles. This session will walk you through privacy engineering methodology and collateral by focusing on an IoT network device privacy requirements as well as the overall IoT device and cloud data processing.
