This panel will explore innovation and ideas relating to procurement for smart city technology. As IoT begins to touch all aspects of the city, how does public procurement evolve to maximize the value of these technologies? Using our city panelist as examples we will explore what various cities are piloting, what information is needed to speed procurement and what roadblocks exist today. The panelists will cover the need to be flexible and innovative in procurement process with the requirements related to transparency and equity. We will discuss cities that are piloting various methods from pilots direct to scaling, eliminating RFIs, outcome driven RFPs and separating technology purchasing from implementation.
